This is a Spaghetti Squash. It's not much to look at.
Start by Preheating your oven to 350 degrees
While that's heating up, cut your squash in half.
You may need an axe, sawzall, or a strong man to cut it.
(You can always put in the microwave for a few minutes to soften it up)
This is what it looks like. Kind of like a pumpkin.
Scoop out all the guts (seeds, etc.) and it will look like this.
Season it with olive oil (I use spray), salt and pepper to taste.
Place the side on a cookie sheet and bake raw side down (this adds to caramelization)
Bake for about 45-50 minutes.
I usually can tell it's done by pushing on the top and seeing if it's soft.
After it cools down a bit, shred it with a for FROM THE SIDES!
I like to drain mine for about an hour or so to remove excess moisture.
It's a squash, so they're a bit watery.
And VOILA!
You have spaghetti squash that you can toss with sauce and a protein!
Get inventive!
