Marinate pork for at least an hour.
Marinade:
2 pound pork steak, cubed
3 tablespoons dark soy sauce
1 tablespoon Chinese rice wine
3/4 cup chicken broth
2 teaspoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon dark sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper (optional)
3 cloves garlic, minced
Additional ingredients:
1 Medium Onion, quartered
1 8 oz. Package Baby Bella mushrooms
In a separate bowl, mix the following ingredients. Most recipes will tell you to simmer this mixture, but I do something different.
Sauce:
1/3 cup rice vinegar
4 tablespoons brown sugar
3 tablespoons ketchup
1 teaspoon soy sauce
2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 4 teaspoons water
Saute the pork in about 3 tbs of vegetable oil until almost all of the pick is gone. Do this in small batches so that you don't bring the temperature down. As your doing the batches, transfer the pork to a saute pan that has the sauce in this. Cook and transfer all of your pork into the sauce and simmer for about 10 minutes. The sauce will thicken and the pork won't be over cooked.
I was really surprised that it turned out so well! No more take out for me!!!
Serve over jasmine rice or noodles
